Pitch Reports

This is going to be just the second IPL game at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium in Mullanpur. Pacers have enjoyed considerably more success at Mullanpur in T20 cricket since the 2023 season with 87 wickets as against 33 to spin in 10 matches, which wasn't quite the case in the one IPL game at the venue thus far.

In the first, Kings started on a winning note against Delhi Capitals by chasing down 175. The spinners didn't leak as many runs as the quicks on that night, but it's been more than two weeks since then and conditions could easily have changed.

Probable Playing XI

PBKS

Shikhar Dhawan (C), Jonny Bairstow, Prabhsimran Singh, Sam Curran, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Shashank Singh, Liam Livingstone/Sikandar Raza, Ashutosh Sharma, Harpreet Brar, Harshal Patel, Kagiso Rabada

[Impact sub: Arshdeep Singh]

SRH

Travis Head, Mayank Agarwal, Abhishek Sharma, Adien Markram, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Abdul Samad, Shahbaz Ahmed, Pat Cummins (C), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Mayank Markande

[Impact sub: Jaydev Unadkat]

Punjab Kings:

•  Shikhar Dhawan is the top run-scorer for his side with 138 runs thus far. Given that SRH is his former side, he would love to score against them. He has scored 364 runs at avg of 36 against them.

• Sam Curran played a fantastic knock of 63 (47) when Punjab played their first match at the same venue. He has scored 73 striking at 166 against SRH thus far and would surely aim to add many more after being promoted in the batting order. He ilso is expected to play a vital role in bowling as well.

• Shashank Singh guided Punjab Kings to their second win with his fairytale knock of 61* in the last game. He has shown the world that he has a lot of potential. It will be exciting to see how he performs against his former side.

• Kagiso Rabada will be the biggest threat for the visitors here. The veteran is the top wicket-taker for his side and also has as many as 16 wickets in 10 innings while bowling against Hyderabad.

• Kagiso has dismissed Markram once in 19 balls and Klassen thrice in just 15 balls.

Sunrisers Hyderabad:

• Abhishek Sharma is in the limelight and has been a megastar for SRH from the beginning of this season. The young lad is striking at 218. In fact, he has smashed 101 boundaries in 326 deliveries (BPB of 3.23) in T20s since the start of October 2023. Only Andre Russell (BPB of 3.12) has a better ratio among batters with at least 50 boundaries in that time.

• Playing against PBKS, Abhishek averages 37 with the bat and also has two scalps in an inning.

• Travis Head is also enjoying his batting. He has scored 112 runs in just 62 balls this season. If PBKS bowlers do not get his wicket in the initial phase, he can cause a lot of harm.

• Aiden Markram has always been an important asset for his team and nothing is different here. He has a very crucial role to play in the middle order, and has been in good touch with a half-century in his last match.

• Mayank Markande plays for Punjab in domestic cricket and hence he is very familiar with the environment here in Chandigarh. The last and only time he played against the PBKS, his figures were 4-15.

• Mayank has dismissed both Dhawan and Curran a single time in 17 and four balls respectively.

Other Stats and Facts

• Head to head: Matches 21, SRH 14, PBKS 7.

• In last 6 matches: SRH 3, PBKS 3.

• Shikhar Dhawan vs Pat Cummins: 31 runs off 25 balls with 2 dismissals.

• Prabhsimran vs Bhuvneshwar: 11 runs off 7 balls with 2 dismissals.

• Abdul Samad vs Rabada: 19 runs off 14 balls with 2 dismissals.

• Cummins has a dominant record against both Dhawan and Bairstow. In the 25 balls Cummins has bowled to each of the two batters, he has dismissed them twice each while conceding 16 runs to Bairstow and 31 to Dhawan.

• Dhawan might be better off going after Jaydev Unadkat, off whom he has scored 70 runs off 44 balls in the IPL, while being dismissed just once.

• Sunrisers have a dominating 14-7 record against Kings, their best win percentage (66.67%) against any team.

• Two Sunrisers batters have a strike rate of over 200 in 2024 (minimum 100 runs) - Klaasen (204.85) and Abhishek (217.56). From Kings, the highest strike rate is 161.53 - by Prabhsimran Singh.
