Match Preview
The five-match ODI series between India and New Zealand promises to be an exciting contest between two sides who are ranked second and third respectively in ODI cricket.
Both the sides head into the series on the back of series wins, and it is going to be incredibly hard to predict the outcome of this one.
Virat Kohli’s side came back strongly after a defeat in the series opener to defeat hosts Australia 2-1, while Kane Williamson’s side decimated Sri Lanka 3-0 at home. With the preparations for the 2019 ODI World Cup in full swing, both teams will be eager to extend their good run in the format.
Leading the charts for the two teams are the two skippers. Kohli and Williamson are two of the finest batsmen of their generation and also determined individuals keen to lead their respective sides to World Cup glory.
The series also promises to be an intriguing battle between the two veterans – India’s MS Dhoni, who has made an excellent start to 2019 with three consecutive ODI half centuries, and New Zealand’s Ross Taylor, who is in excellent form at the moment and will be hoping to make a big impact at McLean Park, his home turf, in the series opener on Wednesday.
India had a terrible outing last time out in New Zealand, losing the five-match series 4-0, with one of the matches memorably ending in a high-scoring tie. They will be keen to come out victorious this time around.
