Key Players to Watch/Key Stats

Chennai Super Kings

Devon Conway has been in superb form with the bat this year. In the eight innings, Conway has 322 runs at an average of 46 and a strike rate of 137.02 in IPL 2023. This includes four fifties.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has provided good support to Conway at the top. In the eight innings, Gaikwad has 317 runs at a 45.28 average and a 149.52 strike rate this season.

Ajinkya Rahane has performed amazingly well this season. Overall, Rahane has 467 runs at an average of 31.13 and a strike rate of 114.46 against Punjab Kings in the league. He has also made three fifties, with the highest score of 98.

Moeen Ali is a must-pick in the home games of the Chennai Super Kings. In the three matches, Moeen has five wickets at a sensational strike rate of 9.60 in Chennai this year. His batting will also fetch a few points.

Ravindra Jadeja will also enjoy bowling at Chepauk. He has also snared five wickets at a strike rate of 10.80 here this season. He is also a more than decent batter.

Tushar Deshpande is the leading wicket-taker (14) for Chennai Super Kings this season. If the surface is on the slower side, he can again trouble the batters with changes of pace.

Punjab Kings

Shikhar Dhawan has 1,029 runs at a fantastic average of 44.73 and a strike rate of 130.74 against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. The PBKS skipper has also made eight fifties and a century against the four-time IPL champions.

Liam Livingstone hasn’t done anything significant for PBKS this season. However, he scored 60 runs off 32 balls and then 19 runs in just seven balls in the two games against CSK last season. His bowling could also be useful on the Chennai track.

Sikandar Raza has done reasonably well in his debut IPL season. His spin bowling can be lethal at Chepauk. Moreover, Raza is more than capable with the willow as well.

Sam Curran would like to perform against his former IPL franchise. So far, Curran has scored 163 runs and taken six wickets this season. His cutters can be lethal on a sluggish track, given it’s a day game.

Arshdeep Singh has five wickets at a strike rate of 14.40 and an economy rate of 6.50 against CSK in the IPL. Expect him to add more to his tally today.
Arshdeep has a great record against both CSK openers. He has dismissed Conway three times in 11 balls (23 runs) and Gaikwad twice in 24 balls (23 runs).
